Product Description

The New York Central and Hudson River railroad began to produce a standard 35’ boxcar from 1892 until 1902.  The early cars had bottom corner irons with poling pocket, uncoupling lever half way across end, wood bolsters, a long 3’ 3” hand grab on the ends, two brakeman hand railings on top of the car, grab irons used for the end ladder, a large end sill that gave the outside sheath a small dip down on the ends, double board roofs, and rounded corners on the body. This model represents the earliest version of this car built between 1892 and 1896 with 20 inch wide running boards.  It would have been painted straw color with black lettering.
