The WYN Star Cluster stands as a huge beacon at the crossroads of the galaxy. Marking the point where the Klingon, Lyran, and Kzinti borders meet, the Cluster itself was long considered uninhabitable. Surrounded by a dense cloud of highly radioactive dust, it was assumed that the entire Cluster was saturated with deadly radiation. All residents of the WYN Cluster are immigrants from other species and empires.
Being short of real warships, the WYNs could not divert any hulls for use as fleet scouts or other support ships. This forced them to use auxiliary ships as scouts by taking a standard auxiliary cruiser and replacing the weapons mounts with special sensors. This would never have worked for any other fleet as the auxiliaries were too slow to reach the battle, but for the WYNs the distance from any fleet anchorage to any battle zone was very short and the enemy fleet would still be damaged by the radiation zone effects by the time the auxiliaries got to the scene. Auxiliary ships were derided as easy targets by fleets in any other theater of war but inside the Cluster where any enemy would be damaged by the radiation zone, WYN auxiliaries were capable and dangerous.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
