OO 1/76 scale Boater straw hat assortment

OO 1/76 scale Boater straw hat assortment. 9 different sizes and heights, 10 of each. The Boater hat was also known as straw boater, basher, skimmer, cady, katie, canotier, somer, sennit hat and was commonly used in the summertime. Common from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.

 

The smaller hats are about 90% the size of the large ones. Prior to painting the hats they should be thoroughly cleaned in denatured alcohol and dishwashing liquid to get rid of the process wax. Use enamel or acrylic paint. Due to Shapeways material wall thickness restrictions the brim is a bit thicker then it should be. Use a small file or sandpaper to reduce the thickness of the brim prior to mounting it to a figure of your choosing. To mount the hats just cut away the top of the head on the figure until you are satisfied with the fit. Then glue it on with ACC or styrene glue.
