Product Description
The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants.  The Singer Protectorate was comprised of a species of hummingbird-like creatures, which were capable of high speeds and great dexterity when in flight. Their downy-feathered wings had thin, skeletal fingers at the tips, which are capable of very fine manipulation. Males had a variety of bright, dazzling colors, while females were almost always a single shade of green. Their name stems from their high-pitched form of communication, which was difficult, if not impossible, for other species, save for the faerie-like Loriyill, to fully understand.

The Singers’ need for large amounts of nectar to fuel their high metabolism drove numerous wars in their history, prior to their development of artificial food sources in sufficient quantity to enable their focus to turn to the stars. They tried to keep a low profile in their first decades as a space-faring power, attempting to adapt communications technologies into ship-bound weapons. They were uncovered by the aquatic Koligahr Solidarity, who found it quite difficult to communicate with the Singers. Despite this, the Koligahr soon conquered Singer space, eventually deciphering a crude means of communication.

The Singers chafed under Koligahr rule until the Fourth Cycle, when the Loriyill who had been scouring the octant for signs of their ancient Souldra nemeses encountered the Singers and saw them as a kindred people. They deployed a task force to liberate Singer space, and sent a relief force to backstop this newly won independence when the Koligahr sent an entire border fleet in a failed attempt to re-assert their dominance. Incredibly, not only could Singers and Loriyill communicate freely, but the Singers could adopt certain Loriyill technologies, and may have even shown signs of adopting a degree of mental communication.

Alas, the Loriyill patronage of the Singers may have hastened their downfall, as it drew the attention of the Souldra, who launched a full-scale assault on Singer space during the Sixth Cycle. A number of refugee ships carried the last of the Singer species towards the Loriyill Home Stars, but Singer civilization at large was brought to a cataclysmic end.

Unlike Loriyill ships, the Singer fleet was comprised of relatively slow ships with no greater agility than their Koligahr counterparts. Their main phaser equivalent was the sonic pulser prior to the Loriyill intervention and quantum phasers thereafter. For heavy weapons, they used light and heavy tachyosonic beams; one ship class was able to incorporate Loriyill fireballs. Some Singer ships were also equipped with Loriyill flame shields, though it appears that the Loriyill chose not to provide flame shield projector technology to their new protégés.

The Singer destroyer was one of numerous ship classes built to assert the Singers’ Loriyill-backed independence from the Koligahr Solidarity. They were often deployed in pairs, in support of a Singer heavy cruiser. It was armed with a pair of quantum phaser-1s, three sonic pulsers, and one heavy and two light tachyosonic beams. As with the heavy cruiser, the lack of a capacitor system for the sonic pulsers themselves obliged the Singers to install a large battery deck; although the Singers may elect to draw power from the quantum phasers’ capacitors to arm sonic pulsers, this in turn limits the degree to which the quantum phasers themselves may be used.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
