Product Description

This part replaces the throttle push rod deck housing on the Italeri 1/35th scale PT 596 kit. It is correct for PT 486-544, 565-612, and 731-760. An additional piece (missing from the kit) forward of the starboard turret is included.

The cast in housing must be trimmed off and engine hatch modified to use this part. The kit incorrectly locates the coamings along the engine hatch too far inboard. The outboard coaming faces should be flush with the sides of the day room cabin.

Checks
Here are some "as accurate as possible" measurements from the kit taken by a modeler friend. Please check your model before purchasing:
1. From the aftermost face of the engine hatch to the starboard wing step block (cast into deck): 7.594" (192.9mm)
2. From the aftermost face of the engine hatch to the aft end of the day cabin: 3.65" (92.7mm)
3. An additional .25" (6.35mm) is added to the forward cover section for those that open the aftermost face of the wing step block. On the actual boats it was open. The cover section will need to be trimmed if left closed.

Preparation
The first step is to clean all parts thoroughly. Handle very carefully as the plastic is brittle. Please see the guide and links here: http://www.pt103.com/3D_Printed_PT_Boat_Parts.html. For best painting results be sure to follow cleaning with a UV cure from a lamp with the correct output, or the sun.

Sections
This part comes in 6 sections. They are described below in order from the forwardmost section to the aftermost.
One section is very short and mounts forward of the starboard turret, against the chart house. It is not attached to the other sections.
The longest section fits from the bridge wing to about halfway along the day cabin. Do not install until the other pieces are in place so that it may be trimmed if needed.
The second longest section fits from the aft end of the longest section to about the end of the day cabin.
The third longest section, with a handhole cover on top, fits next.
The short section with the hump fits next.
The end section, the fourth longest, fits to the humped section.

Installation
Because the aftermost section wraps around the aft face of the engine hatch, install it first and work forward.
Since deck camber can vary, use the inboard vertical coaming flange for alignment so that the section tops are level. The bottom of the section's deck flanges are tapered to Elco deck camber specifications and may be slightly different from the models. Some filling may be needed between the deck and the inboard bottom of the aftermost section.
