An Earth "gravity gradient" relief globe making use of data from NASA's GRACE mission.
The texture of this globe showcases the variations in Earth's gravity field as measured by NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) where very presice microwave measurements between the two pacecraft, GRACE-1 and GRACE-2, were used to map gravity's effect on them with high precision.
In this colouration white/red corresponds to mass excesses and blue corresponds to mass deficiencies.
GRACE Gravity Model 5G compiled by the Center for Space Research, University of Texas at Austin. Gravity data processed by Denis Felikson.
