Product Description

This ribbon model of a single Zinc Finger is 50 million times real life. It consists of an alpha-helix and antiparallel beta-sheets, and shows how two cysteine and histidine residues capture a zinc ion for stabilization. The Cys2His2 motif is the best characterized class of zinc fingers and is very common in mammalian transcription factors. The alpha-helix of this structure, also called the “recognition helix,” makes sequence specific contacts to DNA bases.
