Product Description

This is Version 1 of a European style papermaking mould with course screen. I'm providing this model at no cost other than what Shapeways charges. This method of 3D printing doesn't print screen mesh well so you will need to add your own metal or plastic screen to this mould. When used with accompanying deckle it produces a sheet 8 x 10 inches. Holes in the top face of the mould along the frame are for threaded heat set inserts sold by McMaster-Carr part number 93365A122. These are inserted with a soldering iron and special tip also sold by McMaster-Carr parts number 7662A696 and 9216A115. Once inserted these female threaded inserts size 4/40 allows one to use screws to hold down a trim plate of brass shim over top of your brass or plastic mould surface. Shapeways requires holes in models to remove build material. These holes need to be plugged with silicone of other material to prevent the interior of the mould from filling up with water. This is Version 1. Suggest increasing wall thickness, Version 1 used .05" wall thickness. Also add one 1/8" diameter rod through the middle of the ribs to strengthen them, just as is done on traditional moulds. You can also download the model itself and change it. If you do come up with your own improved version please let me know.
