Product Description

Gijsbrechts. Trompe-l’oeil.

Trompe-l’oeil and curiosity cabinets are fabulous. They’re like cluttered minds, glorious, gorgeous, with sense if you take the time to get to know them.

I looked up the picture and looked  up Gijsbrecht, found out the picture was part of a special room dedicated to perscective studies and fooling the eye, and that he’s the one who painted the back of a painting. In 1670. I love that he frames the whole thing inside a box.
There’s a lightness and a sharpness about Gijsbrecht, like had a good sense of humor, but could be scathing.

I saw the conches to the right in the drawer And I thought, Science and design. So I made two and put them together. Science, art, design, nature. Maybe I should have done 4.
