Axe Storyboard10

This is a miniature version of what blacksmiths call a storyboard.  It is a series of steps which document how a piece is forged starting from raw stock.  This is part of a project I am doing with mastersmith Jim Austin.  Jim has extensively studied historic axes and reverese engineered the techniques used to make them.  No mere scholar, Jim took this knowledge back to his shop is used it to forge faithful reproductions of these historic artifacts.  Beginning in 2014 we have been collaborating on 3d capturing and reproducing these storyboards.  Now this learning tool is available to the world.
