The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Maesron Alliance was one of the preeminent empires of the Omega Octant, at one point the largest empire before civil war, economic collapse, and foreign invasion reduced their territory to a small enclave. Maesron ships are armed with wide-angle phasers, tachyon guns, and tachyon missiles.
The wolf-like Vulpa were one of the three species to found the Maesron Alliance. After the First Great War, the Vulpa rose to dominate the other Maesron species, establishing a short-lived "Maesron Empire." However, when the Vulpa lost the resulting Maesron Civil War, many Vulpa abandoned their sense of Maesron identity. Using supplies passed on in secret from the Probr, a group of militant Vulpa nationalists launched two waves of insurgency against the "New Alliance" formed by the other two former Maesron species. While both waves would eventually be defeated, the defiant Vulpa later used the turmoil of the Andromedan and Souldra invasions to establish a powerful and independent Vulpa Confederacy. The Vulpa inherited Maesron weapons technology, but heavily modified their starship designs to suit their own needs, not least by dispensing with the "floating" platform used on several Maesron ship types.
The blockade runner was based on a heavily modified Maesron destroyer hull, with the "floating" platform removed and a central warp pack installed. It was one of the most commonly encountered ships of the Vulpa Insurgency, designed to be fast enough to deliver key supplies and powerful enough to destroy any patrol ships attempting to get in their way. This made it a source of considerable irritation to the Maesron authorities for almost two decades.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
