This is a replacement roof for the MDC Overland series of HO scale passenger cars. It is patterned after cars ordered from the Pullman's Palace Car Company by the New York & New England Railroad in 1890 for their New England Limited express train from Boston to New York. It features more accurate ends, support brackets (which can be easily removed if you don't want them) and a recess in the ceiling to accept LED strips for interior lighting, such as these:
This roof will fit any of the standard Overland series body shells or the ones we offer specifically made for the New England Limited train of the early 1890's. The cars of that train were painted white and the train soon earned the nickname the "Ghost Train". I will later be adding more detailed versions with various roof vents and possibly piping for the Pintsch lights that were common at the time. If you use the suggested LEDs, cut a strip with 12 lights to have lighted end platforms, otherwise cut nine lights and center them.
