Product Description

A total of 97 great circles form this sphere, based on the primary 25 symmetry circles of the cuboctahedron, plus the 72 additional great circles formed by using the intersections of the primary circles as axis points for other great circles. This was a set of great circles developed by Buckminster Fuller, who named the cuboctahedron the "Vector Equilibrium" because of the equal and balancing vectors to its vertices, and the fact that it is composed of an octet truss (when the vectoras to the central point are included). It is further described in Robert Gray's work at : http://www.rwgrayprojects.com/rbfnotes/greatc/greatc1.html This large model should print in the plated steels.
