I had been playing around with different designs for stamp holders but always had a problem getting a decent removable cover that would have some immunity to process variations and could be fabricated in several processes. My first attempts had snap on covers but they always needed some slight adjustments with a small file to get the fit right. That's ok for me to fiddle with to get parts that can be used as presents but it is not a good solution for general sale!

I came up with a screw type cover that has a screw mechanism centered on the central axis of the container. This would be a bad location for a general purpose container but it is perfect for a roll of stamps. The central threaded path is open on both ends to better allow powder removal during production. If you wanted to you could also tie a cord through the center and hang it from a hook on a wall (or around your neck if you mail a lot of stuff). It's also an easy modification to remove the slot for the stamps to make a container that would hold a special ring. The center core has a diameter of 0.5 inches so most rings would fit inside such a container. Changing the hole patterns is also no big deal if someone wants something more elegant.

I must say that I am extremely happy with this design. One of the keys to getting it right was to first make some screw prototype structures with a few varied thread diameters and select the best one prior to using it in the final stamp holder design. I also made it a point to have no dimensions smaller than 1 mm to minimize any rule check or production issues. The thread would need to adjusted slightly for an alumide version so right now this item is only being offered in any of the strong and flexible colors, polished or unpolished.

    That's all folks!

It's a new version of the original version. With this design you snake the stamp roll coil through the baffles and channels located near the slot. When you pull on the coil backing the stamps separate from the coil as they emerge from the holder. For the 27 people who still use stamps this product is for you!
