Hi Shapeways, Could you please become a YouTube-approved merchand? I notice that I am getting most of my sales from my YouTube videos. However, I cannot link the viewers to my Shapeways Shop, or directly to a specific model, as Shapeways is not (yet?) a YouTube-approved merchand. Especially with the introduction of YouTube End Screen Elements, there is now a very easy and powerful way of leading YouTube viewers to my shop and models. If only Shapeways were a YouTube-approved merchand. Please consider! Thank you. Oskar
Correct. YouTube only allows me to place links to my own domain (https://oskarvandeventer.nl) and to YouTube-approved merchands like Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/). So YouTube does not allow me to make a link like this: https://www.shapeways.com/product/G26BGEJWA/valentine-gear-sphere. Of course, one work-around is to use redirects, like this: https://oskarvandeventer.nl/shapewaysredirect.htm. However, such redirects are annoying to the users, and it is too much work much work to set up a redirect page for each and every model. Oskar
Hey Oskar, we've been in the process to get this going but it turns out to be a more complicated process than we thought. I agree this has to happen and we are definitely aware of it, but it will take some more time to get this going. In the meantime, yeah I understand it's annoying, but the redirect is the easiest way to go for now. That said, we are looking into this. Cheers, Ruud
Hi Ruud, Thank you for looking into this. It is not an urgent issue, but a definite nice-to-have. A bit related is the request/suggestion to have a Shapeways affiliate program. This way, Shapeways fans that actively promote Shapeways products get a kick-back fee if the customer orders the product after clicking the affiliate link. This will help Shapeways visibily and sales, as larger websites and YouTubers would suddenly have a financial incentive to promote Shapeways products. Anyway, looking at some other Forum threads, I agree that this is not the most urgent issue . Oskar
Hi Shapeways, This thread has faded a year ago, but the request remains as urgent as always. Many people watch my videos. If Shapeways were a YouTube-approved merchant, then people could buy my Shapeways models with a single click. Now they cannot. Please become YouTube-approved merchant, as it should boost our sales. Etsy sellers may confirm this, as Etsi ís YouTube-approved merchant.
