On the Bleak Battlefields of the future war is carried out by Proxy Armies, robotic tanks and mechs march to war by the thousands under the networked control of bloodthirsty Proxy Core Units.

Hey guys! I've been working on my Proxy War Miniatures for over a couple of years now and my "catalog" has been steadily growing since then! Even so I've only scratched the surface and have plenty more I want to design! Of course, that takes time so I'm setting this up while "inbetween" projects and to keep you guys updated as I continue working on these!

So aside from that intro, what's Proxy War? It's a set of miniatures that I've been designing mostly as a hobby until recently when I started working on the framework for a ruleset of my own to make an actual Proxy War Wargame. Of course that's a big project in of itself! Proxy War is centered around "meat grinder" style battles, wave after wave of Proxy units crashing together under the command of the AI powered Proxy Core Units. Should a battle continue with no side gaining an advantage the PCUs may elect to start deploying Prime Unit. Prime Units are built to the same scale as the PCUs but far more specialized, with proper application they can turn the tide of an engagement.

    Proxy Core Unit (PCU)
Proxy Core Units, or PCUs, form the core of your Army. Each is the result of a highly involved construction process resulting in a state of the art combat unit with the best available arms and armor. PCUs need to be so strong and tough as they are the lynchpin to the entire army as Proxy and Prime units on their own are little more than ordered piles of scrap. The PCUs network themselves throughout the entire army meaning that if you destroy the PCU, the army falls silent. Even so this is not easy task, often requiring overwhelming numbers of Proxy Units to overcome the PCUs NanoArmor and endure the PCU's return fire.

The Tyrant is a prime example of a Combat focused PCU.

    Proxy Unit
Proxy Units are the literal cannon fodder in a sense. Built using local materials they are, compared to a PCU, crude and underpowered. But what they lack in quality, they make for with quantity. Each Proxy Unit might be weak but when taking advantage of combined arms they can go a long way to closing the power gap. Each one is designed with a purpose and by using the right combination to account for the enemy and terrain they can make the most of their limits.

The Kodiak Medium Tank is a generic, if efficient, jack of all trades design.

    Prime Unit
Prime Units are the "missing link" between Proxy units and Proxy Core Units. Built using the same techniques as Proxy Units but to the same destructive scale as a PCU. Although they are powerful Prime units tend to be even more specialized, making their weaknesses even more prominent.

The Trebuchet Prime is a Siege Artillery Specialist, capable of devastating long ranged attacks.

I'll be updating this thread as I release new products and my Shapeways Shop, Metal Core Collectibles has over 40 Proxy War Related Products and each as a more indepth description of that unit and it's capabilities! You can also follow me on Facebook at Metal Core Collectibles for additional WIP and other updates as well.

Just finished designing a new unit to add to the Proxy War roster, and the first Prime unit as well! Presenting the Trebuchet Prime - Mobile Artillery Unit!

When an opponent’s defenses are too built up to break with Proxy Units it’s prudent to dismantle said defenses prior to committing more units for the enemy to easily reclaim and use to further entrench his position. It was for situations like these that the Trebuchet Prime was developed. Wielding a pair of 24” break-action cannons and two mid-range rocket pods it mounts almost unparalleled firepower for a single chassis, admittedly it is a very large chassis. So large in fact that it even towers over all known Proxy Core Units.

Even with it’s size it can’t freely fire it’s 24” cannons without risking its stability, especially when moving. To avoid this issue the Trebuchet deploys a pair of Stabilizers from it’s upper legs, this doesn’t let the Trebuchet move at all but allows it the full use of its weaponry. Unlike the Cannons the Trebuchets Mid-range Rocket pods are always available to it. The Rockets are fairly simple, having minimal course correction capabilities and are more suited to dealing with slower targets as faster units can outmaneuver the rockets with sufficient speed or agility.

Even with all its firepower and might it is still not without weakness, just like the smaller Proxy Units Trebuchet is built with a very specific purpose and requires support to cover for it’s shortcomings. In Particular the trebuchet is ill equipped to swarms of faster units and air threats. Even with these shortcomings many PCUs find much value in having a mobile firebase like the Trebuchet when dealing with dug in enemies.

    I got some plans for this guy, it'll probably be available in 3 different versions;

Version A will be a pair of Strong and Flexible models with a preset pose, one standing and one with the guns deployed.
Version B will be a single Strong and Flexible Model with 7 Parts, 4 Gun Parts that should let you switch between having the guns deployed or stowed, the Torso and 2 sets of Legs, one Standing and one with the Stabilizers deployed.
Version C will be a Frosted Ultra Detail kit with 30 parts that will offer the fule range of posability although it will require glue to be assembled.

I should hopefully have my initial prints by August so fingers crossed!

This is really cool! Do you plan to publish the rules online so people can play? Do have have a starter scenario available for new players? I'm excited about the possibilities you're exploring here for Shopowners like yourself publishing original wargames via Shapeways :)

Probably at some point yeah, the rules are still more "concepts" than rules, I have a convention I'm attending early April so my main priority right now is getting ready for that so developing the rules has to sit on the back burner for now.

    Oh nice which convention?

These are something we'd be interested in featuring in our Gen Con exhibit this year so please keep us updated :)

I just recently got confirmation for my Artist Alley Table at Anime Revolution Summer, I'm planning to do a whole 1' x 2' diorama for my Proxy War stuff even, luckily I've been doing a lot of painting in the last few months to prepare! xD

With the Trebuchet all setup to print I decided to work on something else as a bit of a distraction/reward so I decided to take a second stab at doing a skimmer/hover tank, my first attempt, the Hailfire hasn't aged all that well to be honest.

So I've started working on this, the Slipstream!

Still very much a WIP but I think this is working out much better than the Hailfire, the "design language" to denote a hover vehicle is much clearer and easier to use across many different units going forward.

Just got my most recent order in and while I don't think I'll have time to paint any of it up until August I figured I'd share the raw prints without any clean-up here in the meantime!

These are my "Version A" prints, basically just the Trebuchet in a single pose, one each for Mobility mode and Deployed mode. Tyrant PCU for scale, the Standing Trebuchet is about 68mm tall! My biggest single part print so far!

Front View of my "Version B", it's the same model as Version A but this time I wanted a model that you could swap between Mobility and Deployed modes. So it has a single Torso but both Standing and Deployed Legs and the cannon arms let you swap the barrel around for either deployed or packed up guns.

Last but not least is "Version C"! This one I went ALL OUT on, it's basically a full on model kit, with 26 parts allowing for a WIDE range of poses. In Particular each leg has 9 pieces, 5 points of potential articulation and posable toes and heel.

    Also!

I forgot to mention it here but if any of you are attending Anime Revolution I'll be in the Creator's Market!

I'll have a lot of prints to showcase, a lot of them painted as well! In particular I'm working on a 24" x 12" display board for my Proxy War stuff!

So I'm still unpacking and organizing after Anime Revolution, I got some pictures of my table to share but before that I took a bit of time to finish off the listing for my Slipstream Minis. I got these in before heading off to Vancouver but didn't have time to finish the pictures and listing until now!

You can check them out in my Shop right over HERE

I've finally gotten off my butt and gotten the Trebuchet Listed in my Shop! Check out the Proxy War - Prime Units Category to just see the Trebuchet or check out the entire Proxy War Catalogue!

As mentioned before the Trebuchet comes in 4 versions.

The most basic are the "Packed" and "Deployed" versions available in Strong and Flexible Plastic. these are single part and single pose models.

The next step up is the "Half Kit", also in Strong and Flexible plastic. This model features extra parts and a multiple parts that allows you to have display either the "Packer" OR "Deployed" mode and easily switch between them.

Last but certainly not least is the "Full Kit" version, available in Frosted Ultra Detail. This is a full blown model kit. It features 26 individual parts and features 23 different points of articulation. This high level of articulation allows you to assemble it in a large variety of poses well beyond simply featuring either the Packed or Deployed modes as seen in the other versions of the Trebuchet.

That's the big news for now but I've been sitting on my butt for too long so lets talk about some other upcoming things eh? To start, I want to another Prime Unit, A spider bot fo a sort that should make for an interesting design project, might only need a couple variations instead of the Trebuchet's four so that should make things a bit easier for me!

I also want to drum up a couple more PCUs(Proxy Core Units) to help flesh that out a bit more, they are intended to be the "commanders" of a Proxy force so I really should have more than Two! I've had some concepts written down for ages but I haven't really acted on any of them yet so I really ought to dig those out and get to work!

Also now that I've done the Slipstream (and really liked the design!) I've decided to go back and Revamp the old Hailfire design I did quite some time ago to update it to the new "hover aesthetic" I used on the Slipstream. I should probably post some WIP shots of that as I've already done some work on it.....

Remember my Proxy War Defenses? I certainly do and while there is a lot of variety already available between the assorted Wall Lengths,Turret types and Weapons it was only the beginning! I also want to Tackle things like Gates, Large sized turrets and Weapons as well as even more Weapon Variety! I have the "Modular Basics" already in place so the real challenge, especially when designing the larger parts" will be maintaining the high level of modularity, ideally you should be able to slot these larger turrets and weapons on any kind of wall layout so it's going to be a little tricky to approach but it was always my intent to do some larger stuff so hopefully I've left myself enough room for it!

Lastly back in late July I was working on a display board for my Proxy War stuff, well I got it done and while it's still a little rough around the edges(quite literally...) I learned a lot from the process and from my mistakes. Even so I'm still pretty proud of it, I have a couple pictures from Anime Revolution but I actually set it back up recently here at home and ended up taking some much better pictures so I hope to get those up here shortly!

I think that covers just about everything!

Minor update time! Unfortunately with the busy fall season at my day job I haven't had much time to work on my printed stuff.

I am still plugging away at my Titan Knights and getting them fully listed in my shop. I'm in the middle of painting one of my newest Cruisers with the full suite of magnetic optional equipment.

I'm also working on painting up one of my Proxy War Trebuchets and reaching even farther back I picked out one of my old Goliath Assault Bots for painting!

Anyways, stuff is still progressing, just much more slowly!

So, it turns out I'm a huge dummy and never posted pictures of the "finished" display board. Well better late than never right?

Unfortunately I still haven't finished painting everything I wanted to for the Display yet and I made a bunch of mistakes and less than ideal choices but I'm still really happy with how it turned out, I'm hoping to build a bigger and better one in 2018 so I actually have something to test out the Proxy War game I'm making!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually for those that have looked at the Proxy War Items in my Shop recently might have noticed a bunch of new Product Pictures! I used the tiles from my Display Board as the backdrop and got new pictures of everything I had painted up! Still a ways to get to get photos like that for my entire Proxy War collection but it's getting there!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also used my Display Board tiles for my Goliath Pictures!

Another project that was a long time in coming for sure! I'm glad to get my Goliath Armored Assault Bot painted up finally! I still have a couple of Basilisks to paint though.....

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, last but not least, why no new products and such? Well, long story short Fall is busy season at the old Day Job and I've been logging overtime more often than not which leaves me with less time to be "productive". Still pressing forward on the Titan Knight products but they're a fair bit more involved(being full kits and all) than my Proxy War models so I'm wanting to get things done right!

    Until next time!
