    Hi All

I have been looking at 3D printing for a while (Im actually quite excited) with a few work generated ideas. I work for a fencing/security company and we specialise in automated gates. I have been tossing around the idea of making working models of different types of gates both swing and slide.

I use Sketchup - free version and dont have much experience in other software.

How easy is it to make scaled down versions with small working wheels/hinges? I guess I would have to redesign all the separate parts so they can be assembled when they arrived. Examples of they gates that I design can be seen at http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?viewer=0190090 596165192149736234&scoring=m

Shem that some of my better models cant be shared as they are sensitive data.

Any help or advise would be great.

Can be done.. on this model http://shpws.me/ZWn the rear wheels and the blade can swivel. To do it, there is a 1mm axle on each with only 0.1mm clearance around it. They are all printed "in place".. no assembly required. The whole model is only 40mm long.
