Final step

  1. Hello everybody,

I've designed my 3D part 95%, now I am suffering a bug in FreeCAD. Trying to do the final step I get crazy results: disappearing or broken shapes. Would be great if anybody could help...

All I want to do is cut the four shapes named 'QR-Code', 'Loecher', 'Nuten_oben' and 'Nuten_unten' from the shape named 'Werkstueck'. If you take a look at the screenshot: That is cutting the green shapes from the gray one.

Get the FreeCAD file from my website:
    qr-eworm.fcstd

Please let me know if I can assist in any way.

Help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Chris

When you say cut, is the operation you are using a Boolean 'Difference'?

I do not know your package, but I know with Blender that if I do not make sure that the Normals of my Objects are correct before I start then 'unpredictable results may occur'. So, for what it's worth check the Normals of all your parts face in the same direction, usually outwards.

If your software cannot do this, Netfab Basic may help.

    Good luck!

  3. Looks like I got it!

In FreeCAD I exported to Collada, then imported in Blender. All I needed was the boolean modifier 'difference' (and some scaling).

Problem soved... (Though I should file a bug report for FreeCAD...)

    Thanks for your help!

  4. Just for completeness... This is how the final part looks like.
