was wondering if i should apply or use either one of the modifiers on the models

in edit should the model be set in either of the following:
SOLID or SUBSURF or is that going to get the print rejected?

Object has similar settings but the subsureface tends to bend
models out of shape solid also change the model.

    This for "Blender 2.49"

Dont want to move up until fully understand this version

much easier in 2.5 and up...

in 2.5 and up the .stl exporter has an option to "apply modifiers" on export... so there is no thinking about it from then on.

there is other reasons to apply modifiers in the program though.

    Hi Ayewondery,

in 2.49 you should always 'apply' the modifiers before exporting your model. A good way to check is to open the file in a tool like MeshLab (open source). We will print exactly what you see in MeshLab.

    Cheers,
