GP40tc locomotive in 1:160 scale
wolf36 @robsinhamilton, I ended up making mine into a "dummy" so no motor. I couldn't figure out what out of the box chassis would work though I think and SD40-2 or SD40 might work. I ended up cutting up two GP40 frames and spliced them together. This also allowed me to make the fuel tanks look correct, as the SD40's have long tanks and that would need modified anyway. Here are two pictures. The Green one is the Shapeways kit. The blue one is a kit bash I did modifying two GP40-2's together. I only model GO transit so I wanted to make a real early version, before the snow shields were even added. Anyway if you have any questions lmk. thanks
wolf36 @robsinhamiltonhey sorry for the delay, I actually kit bashed an atlas GP40-2 chassis, I had to cut it up and lengthen it. I did it as an experiment so the unit is currently a dummy. The chassis works though, and runs smoothly so I plan on making another one and fitting the motor, and lengthening the rods in it to make it work. IF you find a simpler way let me know I've wondered how and SD40 frame would work but never got to try one
wolf36 almost finished with mine, any thoughts on couplers that fit the body?

Hawker Siddeley Cab Car N Scale
wolf36 I've finished a couple of these, the cab car and the coach. A couple things to be aware of: to add a light you will need to add the detail part of a horizontal double light. I used a part made by Miniatures by Eric. I hollowed out the lamp and glued it onto the cab model. You will also need to hollow out the inside of the cab roof to make room for the LED and the head light. I made a custom windshield wiper blade for the window. The window glazing I used was clear styrene spray painted with Tamiya Smoke paint. Do several layers of aluminum paint and build it up slowly. If the walls of the car bend in and deform, stick it on the chassis and it will straighten out. I used a KATO Amfleet chassis for these and that works really well. I made custom decals for the GO transit version.
