Evolv DNA200 Case with Buttons
windxrunner I've been using mine for almost a month now, and I'm quite impressed. I used regular screws in the sizes listed and they tapped themselves without issue. The threads are strong enough that I've been able to unscrew and screw the ones holding the board in place maybe 10 times and the ones holding the body together twice. I had to unscrew the board screws so many times because the FullyMax battery pack I used was such a tight fit that it pushed against the board and was constantly pressing down the - button when I screwed the case together. I had to remove the board and sand down the - actuator until I could fit everything together without issue. Be careful of screwing the board screws down too tight or it will press down on all the buttons. Overall, I'm very impressed with the case and I'm probably going to be purchasing one of the larger ones that are loosely based on this design. Good job, @slutlab !!!
windxrunner @slutlab is this printed so when we tap the screws in they are moving in either the x or y direction? Like through each layer rather than trying to split between them? I was thinking that tapping into the z direction wouldn't be very stable.
windxrunner @slutlab I have no experience tapping out 3D printed material. Is a hand tap absolutely required or can I fit a phillips scewdriver into my drill and drill the screws into the plastic, forming threads that way? I do not plan to remove the screws once installed,,,all charging will be done via the USB balance charger
windxrunner @slutlab I was looking at the v4 fat daddy 510's and there is a "short" version and a "long" version. I'd like to leave enough room to attach the ground ring (Only way to ground the board) and still have enough to thread on the retaining nut. I ordered a Varitube 510 but I'm not sure if it will be long enough.
windxrunner @sumantonio do the .75"/19mm long screws work? that length seems a bit too short from the images Ive seen.
windxrunner Do I need to thread the screw holes myself or does it come threaded?
windxrunner @slutlab I should have looked into this before commenting, but the varitube 510 seems to be 2-3 mm shorter than the fat daddy. I've never used a fat daddy, but they seem like a varitube would be compatible, yes?
windxrunner @slutlab I have a LiPo pack that is 72x25x20. You don't think this will fit because of the extra 2mm?
