3 Pack - VEA with Chassis - N Scale
Wageni @sem34090 I cannot speak for Rail 3D Prints of course, but I have often wondered about doing some 3mm models so if there are any of my designs you would like to see in 3mm do let's talk. We'll need to consider which materials to use - there is a detail/price trade-off - the 50% larger linear scale will make them around 3.5 times the price in the same material, but going to cheaper plastic will not give as fine a result. I also wouldn't want to put much time into redesign, though some will be necessary to fit the accessories (axle lengths, wheel profiles (flange sizes) available kit chassis, etc). I don't model this scale myself so will appreciate input from people who do. Wageni
Wageni Hi, I made 3 of these quite some time ago, and then left them in a box and forgot them :-( which is a shame because although it was a fiddlesome process to fit the bearings and wheels as I recall, the result is pretty good in terms of running. Durability is surely also fine with bearings, and they have all just survived being scrubbed with a toothbrush and washing up liquid to remove the dreaded sugar that FUD/FXD models sometimes produce over time. It's always a pleasant surprise to me that the paint survives this, but it generally does, acrylic or enamel. I am exhibiting 3D printed N-gauge wagons at the Royston MRE next weekend, and will show yours and some from other designers alongside my own. Best wishes, Wageni.
