Droplet Earrings
MatarazzoDesigns @neeci According to the metal and wax printing guidelines (https://www.shapeways.com/materials/silver -same for plated metals as well) the minimum wall thickness is 0.8mm. However since the sphere is an enclosed shape it would require escapement holes to allow the "uncured" material to exit the hollow void. These holes are recommended at 2-4mm which would be larger than droplet's spherical section. With the limitations of the technology used to print and the lost wax casting process I don't think a hollow version of this earring is possible. I hope this explanation helps, feel free to ask any other questions.
MatarazzoDesigns @neeci Hi, The sphere is solid because the walls would be too thin to print it hollow. Since I don't wear them I'm not sure how heavy they feel. Others have ordered these in various metal finishes. You can see them in the polished silver photo (recently uploaded) and get an idea of size/ weight.
MatarazzoDesigns @teralynn Hi, I added the material option for the other pair. My biggest concern is that sub 1mm plastic is very flexible, and may be difficult to guide through the piercing. I'm not able to check my 3d model at the moment but i think either model should work for you. Good luck and thanks for asking so many good questions!
MatarazzoDesigns @teralynn The plastic option here is good, but it might be too flexible due to its diameter (under 1mm). The redesigned plastic version is just over 1mm (close to 1.5mm) which makes it stiffer, but might be too big if you have small piercings. Though I'd imagine a standard piercing is about 1-2mm I don't have pierced ears and cannot confirm their fit. I'd say the matte translucent is a good option for either model.
MatarazzoDesigns @teralynn Hi, no those models were redesigned to print in plastic only. They are experimental at this time. The real difference is that they have a thicker spiral wire, intended to be stiffer when printed in plastic.
MatarazzoDesigns @teralynn The price is per pair.
MatarazzoDesigns @maxi819 Hi, check again, I just saw a photo of them , in silver from a customer. I also recommend the steel and polishing them to a glossy finish.
