I am Jelte van Geest (30) and studied after the VWO (pre-university education) one year at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht (art college). In 2003 I am admitted to the Design Academy in Eindhoven. During my study I had my intership at NPK Design in Leiden, where I widened my knowledge and gained work experience. In 2007 I graduated in the department of Man&Activity. After my study I worked as a furniture designer for a large furniture manufacturer.
In my playful and surprising designs, form and mechanics go hand in hand. My work is functional and practical, but with a twist. I think design can forge an alliance between user and product. A design is not only an object which makes life easier or more beautiful, it should also trigger an experience, tell a story or give information.
The region Eindhoven is the place I live and work. In my workshop I am constantly working on new designs. My work has been exhibited in various galleries, such as the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the Design Museum in Holon, Israel and during Vestingval Elburg 2015.
