HOn30 Switcher conversion body
Bob_S @tebee Forgot to "tag" you in the response.
Bob_S The width of my sample of the Kato chassis "under the bonnet" comes out to 11.9mm. The inside LENGTH of your original model was perfect for the Kato chassis. There are four small tabs, two forward, two aft; and these rested very nicely on the pads in the model. I never tried the Lifelike chassis with this model, but as you noted, the pickup arrangement is difficult to deal with. The Kato is more expensive, but more durable and it runs better than the Lifelike. I guess now I need to order another body. Thanks! Respectfully, Bob S.
Bob_S @tebee A half millimeter is slightly less than twenty thousandths of an inch. It needs fifty thousandths of an inch (or 1.27mm if I'm doing this right) over the original design to slip over the Kato mechanism. Apologies, my brain never converted to metric. I still "think" in traditional English units. Respectfully, Bob S.
Bob_S @tebee If the hood is about .050" wider (inside width) this will slip nicely onto a Kato NW2 chassis. As it with, by dremmeling, sanding and scraping the inside of the hood until it's paper-thin, I got it to fit the Kato chassis. Looks great, runs beautifully. Need this in FUD or Extreme. Respectfully, Bob S.
