For those of you who have tried the Shapeways Creators<\/a>, made your own Ringpoem<\/a>, drawn your own earrings<\/a>, experimented with the Image Popper<\/a> and are ready to start designing your own items from scratch, we are holding a workshop just for you: Design for 3D Printing with Shapeways<\/a>: Tue, Sep 13th, New York City.<\/b><\/p>\n

\"Enabling<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

We’re on the edge of a new normal, where everyday products are custom
\n made for and by each and every one of us. Today, only a lucky few know
\nhow to design the digital models that become 3d printed objects. If you
\nhaven’t known where to start, this class will get you on the path to printing a stradivarius<\/a> in no time.<\/p>\n

In this beginner’s class, we’ll take you from basic design concepts in SketchUp<\/a>
\n (Google’s free 3D modeling software) to customizing your own case for
\nthe iPhone 4, to uploading it and placing an order to get it 3D printed
\non Shapeways<\/a>. A $25 voucher will be included for all students to cover the cost of printing.<\/p>\n

Bring your Mac or PC laptop (SketchUp does not support Linux), your
\ncharger, and an external mouse. We do recommend that you create an
\naccount on Shapeways<\/a> and download Google SketchUp<\/a> prior to the class.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
