{"id":630,"date":"2010-10-30T12:29:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-30T12:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/archives\/630-digital-jewelry-design.html"},"modified":"2022-09-28T14:06:05","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T18:06:05","slug":"digital-jewelry-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/digital-jewelry-design","title":{"rendered":"Digital Jewelry Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that Shapeways has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/materials\/silver\" rel=\"noopener\">silver<\/a> as part of it&#8217;s range of materials available to the Shapeways community, digital designers of jewelry can now compete with traditional jewelers on an equal playing field due to the quality of material.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Previously designers using Shapeways had to work with what to many would be considered inferior materials, but to some exciting and unique like<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/materials\/grey_robust\" rel=\"noopener\">Grey Robust<\/a> with its glossy ridges honestly expressing the layered process or the granular nature of 3D printed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/materials\/stainless_steel\" rel=\"noopener\">stainless steel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the inclusion of silver in the material range I thought we might take a look at some contemporary, digitally manufactured jewelry designs using a broad range of materials.<\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:2006 --><!-- s9ymdb:2007 --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"642\" height=\"286\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/nervousonShapeways2.jpg\" style=\"border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;\"><\/p>\n<p>Starting with Shapeways community members <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com\/shop\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Nervous System<\/a> with their algorithmic excellence.<\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:2008 --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"416\" style=\"border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/ted_noten_jewellery2.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tednoten.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Ted Noten<\/a> who&#8217;s series  <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tednoten.com\/work\/portfolio\/haunted-by-36-women\" rel=\"noopener\">Haunted By 36 Women<\/a> is the result of a one year survey through the world of women. Featuring: the Fashionista, the Icecream Girl and the Femme Fatale. To produce the works he created full scale assemblages which he 3D scanned and then translated into a range of experimental, 3D printed jewelry.<\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:2009 --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"630\" height=\"238\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/arthurhash2.jpg\" style=\"border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arthurhash.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arthur Hash<\/a> from State University of New York, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newpaltz.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Paltz<\/a> Lectures in Digital Fabrication in Studio Arts and has a prolific practice embracing many digital techniques.
