{"id":462,"date":"2010-06-03T10:55:00","date_gmt":"2010-06-03T10:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/archives\/462-cnc-wood-and-other-materials.html"},"modified":"2022-09-28T13:57:54","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T17:57:54","slug":"cnc-wood-and-other-materials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/cnc-wood-and-other-materials","title":{"rendered":"CNC wood&#8230; and other materials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something I must share with you all&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday I have visited <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rolanddg.com\/\">Roland DG<\/a>&nbsp; (Digital Group)<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to see how their CNC machines work&#8230;and I must say I got very happy seeing how it works, the end results and the potential this has. <\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:1241 --><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/DSC_01462.jpg\" style=\"border: 0px none; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;\"><\/p>\n<p>I got a demo of one of their bigger machines with an automatic tool changer and a rotary axis unit. <\/p>\n<p>Not sure who of you have any experience with CNC and designing for CNC production but in general you can state that the level of details in a product is defined by the layer height and smallest tool used.
