High-performance tools make all the difference, and this is how <a href=\"https:\/\/tilthydrometer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Tilt Hydrometers<\/a> came to be\u2014co-founded by long-time brewer and CEO, Noah Neibaron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is easy to\nsee that beer branding has become much more sophisticated, even for those who\naren\u2019t imbibing. The choices today are bold and boundless, featuring robust\ntaste, flashy names, and eye-catching labels. Selections are continually\nexpanded at high-end grocery stores, bar menus are loaded with choices for\nsavvy beer drinkers, and a thriving market has opened up on the home-brewing\nscene too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process of making craft beer means going back to the basics of brewing, with less mechanization and mass production. There is much more to the process of brewing at home than novices may realize. Success lies in owning the proper tools, and knowing how to monitor and measure\u2014especially during fermentation. Noah Neibaron learned by trial-and-error years ago as a beginner in home brewing, quickly realizing that a better device was needed to measure sugar levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noah\u2019s goal was\nto found a company centered around making quality products to help others brew\nreally good beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI ended up learning\na lot about technology,\u201d said Noah. \u201cI was passionate about brewing and I\nreally wanted the business to take off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/9219-Group_PNG.png\" alt=\"3D Printed Tilt Hydrometers \" class=\"wp-image-41355\" width=\"571\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/9219-Group_PNG.png 4049w, https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/9219-Group_PNG-800x640.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><figcaption><em>3D Printed Tilt Hydrometers. They were really great with fast service, quality, and the\nrange of colors which actually ended up affecting our whole product line\nbecause we now make eight different colored 3D printed tilts\u2014and those are the\ncolors Shapeways sells.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noah began the process of creating his now patented free-floating hydrometer by using a rudimentary 3D design software program. Originally, he was relying on plastic milling for manufacturing test models, but quickly realized the process was far too slow and expensive in comparison to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/business\/additive-manufacturing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"additive manufacturing (opens in a new tab)\">additive manufacturing<\/a>. Noah continued to expand his design skills, and began working extensively with Shapeways for 3D printed products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tilt Hydrometer was originally just planning to sell working prototypes, but as development continued, the design team decided they were ready to produce complete, functional 3D printed devices using Selective Laser Sintering in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/materials\/versatile-plastic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Nylon 12 (opens in a new tab)\">Nylon 12<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durability in\nmaterials was a huge consideration, especially considering the Tilt may be\nsitting in beer for many weeks or be subjected to high temperatures during\nbrewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEven it is\nunder stress from flex which keeps it locked into the tube, it doesn\u2019t get\nstuck in one shape but springs back easily,\u201d said Noah in regard to the\nhydrometer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a general\npatent on the innovative device, Noah mentions that users in other applications\nare testing the hydrometer in applications like making salt solutions and\nkeeping salt levels in fish tanks accurate.
