The SMK is a leader in the <a href=\"https:\/\/openglam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OpenGLAM<\/a>\u00a0(Open Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) movement and has made a huge amount of its art collection &#8212; pieces old enough to be in the public domain &#8212; available to the public without copyright restrictions. We partnered with the SMK to invite the Shapeways design community to create new pieces of jewelry based on six artworks selected by SMK curators. SMK Director\u00a0Mikkel Bogh (who is also an art historian) debated the connection between classic works and modern interpretation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/shops\/3different?li=pb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3different<\/a> (Francesco Carli and Lorenzo\u00a0<span class=\"gI\"><span data-hovercard-id=\"loremilano@gmail.com\">Imprenti<\/span><\/span>), the designers behind the winning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/product\/LY37WHB6B\/quot-melancholy-quot-necklace-smk-contest?optionId=62967599\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Melancholy necklace<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/debate.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"805\" height=\"604\" data-wp-pid=\"35810\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Where do we go from here?
