Where are you located?<\/em><br \/>\nI\u2019m a materials scientist, MBA, IT consultant, maker, sculpture garden junkie who lives in Maryland and has become a complete 3D printing fanatic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/shops\/designrosetta\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/rose_web.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img id=\"hzDownscaled\" style=\"position: absolute; top: -10000px;\" alt=\"\" \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>What&#8217;s the story behind your designs? What inspires you?<\/em><br \/>\nEach design has its own story. My first print at Shapeways was my <a href=\"\/model\/37847\/infinite-love-1-quot-diameter.html\" target=\"_blank\">infinite love heart<\/a>. I which is a heart from the front and an infinity sign from the top. It was inspired by a great performance of shadow puppetry and acting by Rorschach Theater called After The Flood. Based on the Ramayana myth, it\u2019s a story about ideal love and a king and queen who are separated and on an epic quest to reunite. I wanted to show both the love and the infinite eternal continuous path of it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/model\/37847\/infinite-love-1-quot-diameter.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/674x501_37847_1930910_1390586643.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>What brought you to 3D printing with Shapeways?<\/em><br \/>\nYou were one of the only services available when I started. I am grateful to you for making 3D printing so accessible, allowing me to evangelize 3D printing while you handle the details.<\/p>\n<p><em>How did you learn how to design in 3D?<\/em><br \/>\nIn the dark ages, I worked in the aerospace industry and used CATIA. Now I learn a few new tools per month because there are always new worthwhile features. I loved and recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udemy.com\/u\/kaciehultgren\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kacie Hultgren\u2019s course on Udemy<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/model\/1432401\/covalent-bonds-coffee-table-bowl-6-25-quot-diameter.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/674x501_1432401_1545736_1389030882.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>How do you promote your work?<\/em><br \/>\nSocial media, my recent advent calendar give aways, giving 3d printed objects to everyone, and just recently began exhibiting at\u00a0wedding shows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/model\/1635284\/100-infinite-love-party-favors-1-quot-diameter.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/infinity_heart_web.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Who are your favorite designers or artists? Who in the Shapeways community has served as an inspiration to you?<\/em><br \/>\nAll of Shapeways is an inspiration! <a href=\"\/shops\/bathsheba\" target=\"_blank\">Bathsheba<\/a> was the first artist I\u2019d ever seen before Shapeways existed and she used the same industrial service providers; her work is so elegant.\u00a0 <a href=\"\/shops\/theojansen\" target=\"_blank\">Theo Jensen\u2019s<\/a> mission is breathtaking. <a href=\"\/shops\/nervous\" target=\"_blank\">Nervous System\u2019s<\/a> finesse and permutations are gorgeous and delightful to see unfold. Todd Blatt for his work on and offline. The Shapeways team themselves are interesting and inspiring too. <em>(Blushing!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/model\/888508\/simple-heart-plate.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/674x501_888508_1931226_1389030188.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nIf you weren&#8217;t limited by current technologies, what would you want to make using 3D printing?<\/em><br \/>\nSculptural lawn chairs and a playground sized infinite love sculpture.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nWhat\u2019s the weirdest thing you\u2019ve ever eaten?<\/em><br \/>\nScotch tape, as a kid, because it tasted like tonic water and I liked it.
