This week we are highlighting\u00a0Sylvain Georget<\/a>, a French designer residing in Amsterdam who turns his illustrations into 3D printed products to share with the world!<\/p>\n

Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? Where are you located?<\/em>
\nMy name is Sylvain Georget and I am a French designer based in Amsterdam. I graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie following which I started working as a freelance product designer and illustrator.<\/p>\n

What’s the story behind your designs? What inspires you?<\/em>
\nMost of my designs are drawing inspired. I am a compulsive drawer and have filled more than 30 books in the past few years. For me, it’s an important “database” and link between idea and physical object. 3D modeling and printing for me have been more of an “in between” of design process and easy prototyping. I am mostly inspired by buildings and architecture but have a strong focus on product designs. I am a story teller and love to tell stories through my creations.<\/p>\n

What brought you to 3D printing with Shapeways?<\/em>
\nI have been working with Shapeways and 3D printing for around 3 years now, which I used to work with when I was still at art academy. It has been a great tool to push my creations forward and make a step in my design process.<\/p>\n
