gallery but every now and then we see small replacement parts being 3D printed. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/674x501_840302_719957_1356115628.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:32760 --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"serendipity_image_center\" width=\"670\" height=\"1009\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/YF-19JOHN9-15-122.jpg\" alt=\"3D Printed Replacement Parts Transformer\"><\/p>\n<p>On Shawn and Graham&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macrossworld.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Macross World<\/a> site there is a discussion in the forums about replacing parts for the YF-19 using Shapeways 3D printing. &nbsp;One of the members, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macrossworld.com\/mwf\/index.php?s=79f4bf9266839b324f871a5c42310fde&amp;showuser=1819\" target=\"_blank\">VF5SS<\/a> on Macross World and <a href=\"\/shops\/veefshop\" target=\"_blank\">Shapeways<\/a> has modeled a replacement part for a particular section of the YF-19 that was prone to failure. &nbsp;He uploaded a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f13PL2c3do8\" target=\"_blank\">video to YouTube<\/a> and has <a href=\"\/model\/840302\/19-hinges.html?li=productBox-search\" target=\"_blank\">made the 3D printed part available in his Shapeways shop<\/a> so others can repair their&#8217;s with the same solution.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f13PL2c3do8?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>What other 3D printed replacement parts will we start to see emerging in the Shapeways gallery, especially for collectible items where&nbsp;replacement&nbsp;parts are no longer available and in the past collectors had to cannibalize other broken units to get the part they are looking for. &nbsp;The problem here is that there is often a faulty component such as the case with the YF-19 that always fails in the same location making it sometimes impossible to find a replacement part.
