We had a huge response to the Prototype to Product Contest <\/a>we ran with our good friends at Formlabs<\/a>. Entries ranging from highly detailed ZBrush sculpts<\/a>\u00a0through to complex, interlocking mechanical parts<\/a>, architectural models<\/a> to 3D printed fashion<\/a> and jewelry<\/a>, \u00a0through to the whimsically weird<\/a>. \u00a0We even received a submission all the way from Gran Canaria<\/a>\u00a0(yes we had to google the location, and yes it is crazy remote).<\/p>\n

Although we received nearly 300 designs<\/a>, only one person will have a brand new Form 1+ 3D printer <\/a>shipped to their door. \u00a0The judges deliberated against the criteria, there were was tension, there was joy, they argued long into the night. \u00a0The Formlabs<\/a> team pumped some serious excel magic to tally the votes, Shawn Sims from NotCot <\/a>cast his well trained eye over the entrants, \u00a0The Shapeways team checked that the designs would withstand the 3D printing test and together they deemed the winner of the grand prize to be…<\/p>\n

We chose this design for its mechanical complexity, functionality and aesthetics. \u00a0Even better, our new friend MakeMeister will be using his designs skills, new Formlabs 3D printer and Shapeways 3D printing credit to make\/mod solutions to increase accessibility within the home\u00a0for his grandfather<\/a>. 199% Awesome.<\/p>\n
