Pinterest is quickly becoming one of the most important websites that send referral traffic to e-commerce sites such as the Shapeways marketplace of your 3D printed products. To make it easier for you and others to share your designs on Pinterest we have recently added a ‘Pin It’ button on every product page. If you are a shop owner it will be worth your while to ‘Pin’ your products to help them get into the Pinterest ecosystem…

What actually is Pinterest I hear you ask, well:

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you

find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate

their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.

Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people.

Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get

inspiration from people who share your interests.

Shapeways has set up a Pinterest page where we share some of your designs to experiment with and it is already starting to become a significant source of traffic as is currently being seen all over the web.

So take a minute to sign up to Pinterest, submit your best products and check your Google Analytics to see if you see any uptake. As with all social media you may not see results on day one, but having fantastic images and descriptions is the best way to get started.

Be sure to spread the love and Pin other designs you like too both on Shapeways and around the web…..
