Michael shares his story, quirks, and where his thoughts are currently wandering.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/shop_logo.png\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cheat Sheet:<!-- s9ymdb:16531 --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"275\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/michael_mueller_03.jpg\" class=\"serendipity_image_right\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Tech he couldn&#8217;t live without:<\/em><br \/>\nI like computers, Internet, and TV, but I could live without it&#8230;no, I won&#8217;t try.<\/li>\n<li><em>Favorite material:<\/em> Stainless steel and silver. Robust and made for eternity.<\/li>\n<li><em>Favorite font:<\/em><br \/>\nDepends on the context.<\/li>\n<li><em>3D software of choice:<\/em> 3D Studio Max.<\/li>\n<li><em>Most prized object:<\/em><br \/>\nI collect a lot. Antique photos, snail shells, nixie tubes. No favorite, though.<\/li>\n<li><em>Morning person \/ night owl:<\/em><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t like to see the sun rise when I get up, but before bedtime, it&#8217;s okay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How did you learn to design in 3D?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I started in the 90s when I was studying communications design. Since I<br \/>\ngraduated from university I have been working as a computer game<br \/>\ndeveloper, so working in 3D is part of my job.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>How would you describe your creative process?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I try to write down every idea, no matter how whacky. If I have the<br \/>\ntime, the skills or if the technology finally exists, I try to make<br \/>\nsomething out of it. At this point I realize that a lot of these ideas<br \/>\nwere silly indeed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nWhat do you do when you&#8217;re not designing? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m part of <a href=\"www.kritzelkratz.de\">KRITZELKRATZ 3000,<\/a> which is the name of our company. The name<br \/>\n is unpronounceable even for Germans. Anyway, we created a lot of fine<br \/>\nand clever games, especially for young kids.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/model\/299286\/crown_ring.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/crown_ring.jpg\"><\/a> <\/p>\n<p><strong>Where do you do your best thinking?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the toilet wouldn&#8217;t be cool, so let&#8217;s say in bed just before falling asleep. It isn&#8217;t on the toilet, honestly!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s next on the design docket?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shapeways gives a whole bunch of new opportunities. I like to (re)invent<br \/>\n and (re)design stuff. Making everyday things unique and special is<br \/>\nawesome.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nWho are your favorite designers or artists? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are a few TV shows which blew my mind: &#8220;The mighty boosh&#8221; is a<br \/>\ntotal crazy work of art, so I guess it&#8217;s Noel Fielding alias Vince Noir. Also there are a lot of great fellows here on Shapeways who are doing incredible awesome stuff and designs!<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you weren&#8217;t limited by current technologies, what would you want to make using 3D printing? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I like mechanical stuff, so a clockwork would be nice but maybe it<br \/>\nshould go further than that&#8230;something that replicates itself would<br \/>\nbe great but also very dangerous. Anyway, a self-duplicating killer<br \/>\nrobot would be cool.
