{"id":1139,"date":"2011-12-23T15:17:40","date_gmt":"2011-12-23T15:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/archives\/1139-under-the-right-lighting-albert-einstein-looks-like-marilyn-monroe.html"},"modified":"2014-07-03T17:14:49","modified_gmt":"2014-07-03T17:14:49","slug":"under-the-right-lighting-albert-einstein-looks-like-marilyn-monroe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/under-the-right-lighting-albert-einstein-looks-like-marilyn-monroe","title":{"rendered":"Under The Right Lighting, Albert Einstein Looks Like Marilyn Monroe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We all know nightclub lighting can play tricks on the eye, harsh fluorescent lighting may reveal a different face, but did you ever think you could mistake Albert Einstein for&nbsp;Marilyn&nbsp;Monroe?<\/p>\n<p><!-- s9ymdb:14278 --><a href=\"http:\/\/drzachsuchy.ch\/schattenbilder\/#conversation\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"serendipity_image_center\" width=\"562\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/AlbertMonroe.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/drzachsuchy.ch\/shadow-cloud\/\" target=\"_blank\">Drzach &amp; Suchy<\/a>, (previously mentioned on the <a href=\"\/blog\/archives\/554-3D-Printed-Shadow-Cloud.html\" target=\"_blank\">Shapeways blog<\/a>) have been working on a series of 3D printed shadow casting panels&nbsp;that allows multiple images to<br \/>\n  be encoded within a single physical object, a white panel, which<br \/>\n  displays the separate images under specific lighting conditions.<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 40px; border-top-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-width: initial; border-color: initial; border-image: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; \">\n<p><em>&#8220;The underlying principle of our technique is based on a simple<br \/>\n  observation: the shadow cast by an object depends not only on the<br \/>\n  object itself, but also on the light; therefore the same object<br \/>\n  under changing lighting conditions can totally change its<br \/>\n  appearance.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With <a href=\"http:\/\/drzachsuchy.ch\/schattenbilder\/#conversation\" target=\"_blank\">Conversation<\/a>, the technique is used to make an image of Albert&nbsp;Einstein transform into an image of Marilyn Monroe.
