This is a pair of "L-Out" pieces from the Spiral Group of puzzles. Spiral Group pieces combine in many ways to form 4x4x4 cubes. Eight total pieces are needed to make a cube. This is a puzzle originally presented in 2001. Its name is derived from the fan-blade-like shape of the pieces. All the pieces are the same shape with a different arrangement of textures on the outer faces.
The goal is to assemble a cube with all six sides as solid textures (two solutions) or to assemble a it with no quadrant adjacent to a matching texture, diagonals excluded (one solution).

This an order-four pyramid of cubes made up of four five-cube puzzle pieces. This design is one of three pyramids exclusive for this site and has never been offered anywhere else before. This design is code named "White" the other two are "Red" and "Black".
