The Magic Shop

Designs by Magic

The Magic Shop offers a wide range of original dice, some geometrical jewelry and a few strange objects.

The dice are from different families like the Average Dice where you must sum the numbers appearing on the top face, the Truncated Sphere Dice, intersection of a polyhedron with a sphere and some other original creations.

The jewelry includes Double Marble Pendant, Dod Earrings and Dod Pendants, Reversible Bracelets as well as some unusual rings.
Finally, some objects are difficult to classify, for example the Hexbox, the Cup Holder or the MegaWireSphere.

8-pointed sphere.

Not really a die, just a weird shape...
It is a truncated sphere on which 8 portions of cones, tangent to the sphere, have been added with the same positions as the corners of a cube.

Truncated Sphere D14 based on a cuboctahedron.
Numbered from 1 to 7 twice.

A D14 numbered from 1 to 14 is also available.

This a new version with a better engraving and a new orientation that should give better results.

D16 Sphere

This is a Truncated Sphere D16. It has a 4-fold symmetry.

This die is inspired by the repulsion force polyhedra. In fact, the underlying polyhedron (not rounded) looks like one of the two shapes that can be obtained through this technique with 16 points repulsing each others.
But in this case, I calculated the positions of those points to have a maximal radius for the circles resulting from the intersection of this underlying polyhedron with a sphere. The result is a truncated sphere with 16 circular faces of same radius.

See this thread for more informations.

Available Truncated Sphere Dice: D4, D6, D8, D9, D10, D%, D11, D12, D14, D15, D16, D17, D18, D20, D24, D32, D33
Alternative shapes: alt D8, 3-fold D10 (rounded), 3-fold D10 (pointed), 4-fold D10, 5-folded D10 (pointed)
Coming soon: D22, D50
Related dice: Concave D4, Concave D6, D4 Shell, D8 Shell.

Alt D22 Sphere

This is an alternative Truncated Sphere D22. It has the same symmetries as the tetrahedron.
See the D22 with 5-fold symmetry for numbers located on the faces.

This die is inspired by the repulsion force polyhedra. In fact, the underlying polyhedron (not rounded) looks like the shape that can be obtained through this technique with 22 points repulsing each others.
But in this case, I calculated the positions of those points to have a maximal radius for the circles resulting from the intersection of this underlying polyhedron with a sphere. The result is a truncated sphere with 22 circular faces of same radius.

See this thread for more informations.

Available Truncated Sphere Dice: D4, D6, D8, D9, D10, D%, D11, D12, D14, D15, D17, D18, D20, D24, D32, D33

This is Shapeways community member Henryseg's solution of D24 numbering with all group of 4 numbers summing to 50. Moreover the faces around triangular area sum to 37 or 38.
See this post for more informations.

This version will be available for a very limited amount of time with a very small markup: $25.00  instead of $31.99 (including VAT) in Antique Bronze Glossy (that's more than 20% discount).

The regular D24 is also available in a wider range of materials.

Truncated Sphere D32, frosted edition.
Based on an idea from Orangery.

The underlying polyhedron is a non-uniform icosidodecahedron (a kind of polyhedral soccer ball).

The distance between two faces is 20mm. The thickness is 1.0mm but it is full of support material to keep it heavy.

It is numbered from 1 to 32 with the difference between two numbers on opposite faces being always 16.
If you take the sum of a face surrounded by 5 neighbours (there are twelve of them, that corespond to pentagons on the underlying polyhedron i.e. before the intersection with a sphere) and its 5 surrounding faces you will always obtain 99.

More informations this post and this other post.

See also the Regular Edition (30 mm, available in a wide range of materials).

A weighted D1...

This is basically a sphere with a small flat face at the opposite of the engraved number one.
But this sphere is hollow with a weight inside. The size of this weight has been carefully calculated to so that the D1 stops as fast as possible on its single stable position.

Alternative D6 Sphere

This is a Truncated Sphere Dice with 6 faces but it is not based on the cube.
