The Pinwheel Cube is an original puzzle that I made when I started casting. The first one was sold on eBay, and the version pictured is one I made for myself with a special sticker pattern.

This version uploaded on Shapeways is identical to the 2 originals except for some slight mechanism improvements. The originals needed magnets or ball-bearings because the mechanism used to become exposed mid-turn and could be disassembled with a little bit of force. On this improved version the mechanism is anchored deeper so that can't happen.

When you order the puzzle you will receive all the parts un-assembled and will need to buy an Eastsheen Mini 2x2 to use as the core.

This is a rather abstract puzzle inspired by the geometry of the 26th Johnson Solid: The Gyrobifastigium. The puzzle uses a 2x2x1 as its base, with fully functional 1x2x3-like extensions and four oval-shaped knobs on the sides.
