Product Description
This model represents the Decauville Type 27 Number 76 90cm diameter portable turntable. To finish this model, the upper plate needs to be drilled and tapped for a 00-90 x 1/8" long screw, while the lower plate needs to be drilled to clear a 00-90 screw. Alternatively a dummy post can be fitted in the lower plate and a small circle of styrene can be used to cap the upper plate hole and the two pieces may then be used separately (as such turntable were often stored in two parts). When attached together with the 00-90 screw, the top rotates correctly. A divot will be needed in any scenery below the turntable to accommodate the head of the screw. Note that the grooves in the turntable top which receive the wheel flanges are relatively precise and inaccurate gauge wheels and oversize flanges may not rest in the grooves correctly. It is designed for 9mm gauge finescale wheels and works well with NWSL N gauge wheelsets and precisely gauged KBScale wheelsets. This model is designed as a scenic item and not as functional trackwork. Designed to 1:43.5, but suitable for 1:45, 1:48 or 1:50 scenes.
