About this Product
Set of four different 1:300 scale OT-62 variants. The OT-62 series of APCs was produced by Czechoslovakia from 1962 to 1968 (and to 1972 for export models). The OT-62 is similar to the earlier Soviet BTR-50PK, but with various modifications, such as side doors allowing easier entrance to the cab, and twin cupolas on the front glacis. The OT-62 was withdrawn from front-line Czechoslovakian service in combat formations from the 1970s, being replaced by the BVP-1, although it was kept on in certain roles, such as training in river crossings, due to its superior amphibious capabilities, and was still kept in reserve until after the dissolution of the state. Exported examples still serve in a number of countries. This set includes one OT-62A (an unarmed variant), one DTP-62 maintenance vehicle, one OT-62/R3 command vehicle, and one OT-62 (often called an OT-62B), armed with a machine gun plus 82 mm recoilless rifle. The photos show a set printed out in the cheapest ("white, soft, & flexible") plastic. It's good enough for most wargaming purposes, although the details of the wheels within the treads are rather faint. NOTE: there is a small hole in the turret of the OT-62(B) in which a short length of 0.3 mm diameter wire (not provided!) needs to be inserted to represent the machine gun; likewise a length of 0.5 mm diameter wire should be attached to the right side of the turret in the slight recess provided to represent the 82 mm RR. Both of these items are too thin to be printed out in plastic.
