ROTS Obi-Wan greeblie cap

This is a replica of the cog-like button found on the "Revenge of the Sith" version of Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber. I made it because there is no pre-existing piece of hardware out there that can be used as a convincing substitute for the "real thing," unless you strip one off of a Master Replicas replica hilt or a Force FX lightsaber (which would be kind of silly).

This is made to be attached with epoxy to one of my blank "kill-key" tubes, and used to plug the recharge port of the saber, or simply as a cosmetic greeblie.

Note that, if printed in Stainless Steel, it needs to be sanded and polished (unless you are going for an extreme "weathered" look). Shapeways Stainless Steel is not actually stainless steel. It is infused with bronze, and looks very yellow right out of the box. Sanding reduces the yellowness, but doesn't eliminate it. Electroplating it with nickel dramatically reduces the yellowishness, although the depression in the center is hard to reach (at least with my primitive electroplating tools). After sanding, polishing, and electroplating, I think it actually looks better than the greeblie you see on a standard-issue Obi-Wan ROTS Force FX lightsaber. Unlike that one, this greeblie looks like it might actually have a function (and, in fact it does: serving as the knob for your kill-key).

Also note that the sample in the photos is missing a small chunk! This sometimes happens. If yours is flawed, contact Shapeways immediately. They are pretty good about promptly replacing flawed prints with good ones.
