About this Product
This is a larger version of the original Teeth Tea Cup with 32 teeth instead of 28 - as if the cup had grown in its wisdom teeth! The cup is larger, about 4.75 inches in outer diameter as opposed to 3.2 inches of the original cup for indulging in more drink. Ceramic is an age-old material very much associated with hand craft. This object however is 3D printed - a process of ejecting binder on powder building one layer on top of the other. Glazing is done by hand, though not by its creator. Could it be argued then that this object is illegitimate because the hand was not present in its making? On Proper Usage and Inhibited Ingestion: Why is it that we find the cup so unappetizing? Could it have originated from survival tactics where we relate our proximity to another's teeth as a threat of life, a reminder of predator and prey, poison and contamination? Is this object then successful in its design to prevent gluttonous behavior should food and drink only be offered in the cup? I also seek to create uneasiness. We are in an era flooded with objects, objects of use, comfort, sophistication, flamboyancy... There are many objects that serve immediate comfort, yet few are made to be a companion to our recurring feelings of uneasiness.
