Product Description
Canadian National Railways built thirteen single ended snowplows at their Transcona Shops in 1938, # 55600-55612. In 1954, another plow was built to this plan at Moncton, but was of all- welded construction. It was numbered 65613.

This HO scale part provides the body for these plows. No rivet detail has been included- there will be some texture on the part from printing, and it's far easier to sand and prime first, then add rivet detail using surface detail decals from either Archer or MicroMark.

Of course, 65613, being a totally smooth welded plow, will require no rivets, is the easiest of this series to model.

The coupler boxes were designed for the Kadee #178 coupler with scale- sized head and whisker centering springs. The same coupler will work on the rear. For trucks, any standard freight car truck should work, but the best choice for the front (should they decide to sell it separately) is the special 4'2" wheelbase/ 28" wheel diameter archbar truck being made for the True Line Trains HO CC&F CNR snowplow. A regular freight truck should be used on the rear.

You will need to buy the cupola (available at my shop on Shapeways:

https://www.shapeways.com/model/2713980/cupola-for-wingless-plow.html?materialId=61

) for this car. I recommend cutting your own floor to fit from .040" styrene and add body bolsters to suit your choice of trucks. Screw bosses are provided for 2-56 screws to mount the floor and trucks. These are cored with pilot holes- you will want to drill and tap, or drill and use self- tapping screws.

Instructions and further information can be found on my Fotki page:

In 1939, four closely related double ended plows were built at Transcona, # 55696-55699. These are also available!
