Turbulent ring

My academic background is in fluid mechanics, but it has taken me quite a while to find a way to express or illustrate beautiful fluid behaviors through 3D printing. This is my first design based on fluid mechanics simulations that I've been happy with!

This ring illustrates turbulent flow in a Taylor-Couette cell. This cell consists of two cylinders, one inside the other, with the gap between the two filled with fluid. The inner cylinder spins one direction while the outer one spins the other way, and the fluid inside is pushed by the two cylinder walls and swirls about. When the cylinders spin fast enough, the fluid becomes turbulent and moves in patterns like those captured in this ring.

This ring is size 10 as shown. I'm happy to resize it, just ask!
