Product Description
Coupler gauge for Sn3 couplers, using a design of Jim Vail. Gauge is designed for Kadee HO #5 couplers but is suitable for Sergent and other couplers as well.
To Use: 1. Drill & tap coupler screw hole for 1-72 screw (or your favorite coupler mounting screw) & mount coupler (not included). 2. Set gauge and rolling stock on track. Gauge should couple with rolling stock; if not, add or delete shims under the truck mounting. 3. Kadee trip pins should just touch the flat plane below coupler. 4. Tang on coupler end should fit into coupler box on rolling stock. 5. If desired, bottom of gauge can be filled with weight for easier handling. 7. Gauge can be painted with non-acrylic paint.
These gauges are available in many colors and materials. The "Strong & Flexible" plastics are recommended; other materials are available for those who wish a smoother finish, even though the smooth finish is not required for the accuracy of the gauge. The "Strong & Flexible Polished" come in many colors but may have some minor "flash" that needs to be removed before using.
