Chibi Devil

Is he happy to see you or did he just do something bad? This little Devils smile will keep you happy either way!

This design was inspired by seeing all the happy cute prints here on shapeways. While I usually sculpt more in the "monsters" and "creatures" spectrum, I thought it would be nice to try my hand at something a little more "cute". He was sculpted in Zbrush. Using the Remesher and Dynamesh was the key to getting him hollowed out, as well as making him nice and smooth. After that, the Decimator helped get him under 1million polygons, the UVmaster to uv him (which had a real tough time with 950k polys but it worked after 450 seconds), and reproject to paint the color BACK on him. I think this sculpt helped me a lot with planning workflow when making colored sandstone sculptures in the future!


I also want to thank "3D Modeling and Animation Group" and "Shapeways" for hosting this competition. Without it I may not have pushed so hard so fast and discovered what I should do for a more successful workflow!
