Product Description
The quest to build this ring, was a long and tedious one. I had the idea of the shape. Like two hands gently embracing the central object. So I made that shape, bent it to the ring size, and it looked pretty good. I drew the stone and ran into hicup number 1. I didn't think about the stones height. So I go back to the original shape, and have to make the two hands thicker. I was debating on whether or not to thicken it all but decided to keep the band the original thickness. Next part was to design the prongs to hold in the stone. You can see them pretty well in shapeways render. I figured the one in the back could be substantual and be hidden, where the prongs in the front would be small and delicate. I originally wanted this to be printed engraved, but to get a scrib text to be visible, I'd have to make the text bigger, and it wouldn't have been attractive. Next road block I hit was the prongs, they had to be at the minimum wall thickness because details can be thinner but they have to be as thick as they are long. In the end I couldn't be happier with the way they came out. Overall I learned alot making this, and in the end there are a few more things I would do differently next time.

This ring is not available to the public, but I would be willing to design one for someone in the future. Just PM me or send me an email at youknowwho4eva@gmail.com see here for more details https://www.shapeways.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=6035&start=0&
