Mercury Vapor Lamp / Barn Yard Lamp HO scale X20

Intricately detailed HO scale (1:87) barn yard lamp or retro High Pressure Sodium (HPS) or Mercury Vapor Lamp model, set of 20, ready for installing nano LEDs and adding to your model railroad layout or diorama. Model is built to scale, based on fittings detailed in this specification sheet. Includes bump at top indicating daw-to-dusk photocell.

Assembly:
The lamps are sprued in a tree so they do not get misplaced or damaged in the manufacturing process. Use a sprue cutter or fine surgical blade to snip each lamp shade and diffuser off the frame. Each lamp stem has a 0.4 mm hole through it that may require some cleaning by hand with piano wire or a 0.4mm dental drill bit, to remove any left over plastic powder. The hole is wide enough to pass a pair of enameled wires ("magnet wire") of 30 to 36 gauge, to connect to a nano LED, should you desire to install LEDs in these fittings. 

To make a realistic looking HPS / dawn-to-dusk barn yard lamp using a nano LED, use warm white or amber LEDs of 0402 or 0603 size, and solder magnet wires to the leads. Pass the magnet wires through the stem of the lamp, such as to partially insert the LED into the upper fitting / reflector. The diffuser is then glued onto the base fitting, with the nano LED inside. At the ether end, hook the wires to your power source in series with an appropriate resistor.

The model arrives unpainted, in translucent Frosted Ultra Detail or Frosted Extreme Detail plastic. For realism, paint the base fitting with matt opaque paint, while leaving the diffuser unpainted. Then add a nano LED, before installation into your model railroad layout or diorama.
